weekend recipes
I love recipes. I loved them even before I loved to cook. I love reading cook books and cooking magazines and reading all the ingredients.I like that they are precise and orderly and follow a plan. Shocker I know. I usually follow them to the eighth of a teaspoon, but I'm trying to branch out. Also, even though I've been interested in nutrition for as long as I can remember it took me a long time to fall in love with cooking. Before I got married I loathed the thought of cooking for sustenance. Really mature I know. But my sweet husband came up with this great idea to never cook the same recipe twice our first year of marriage. Slowly, recipe by recipe I learned to cook. Mind you this was also occurring in an apartment with no working oven so I became a master at toaster oven and crock-pot recipes, but some how after that first year cooking didn't seem so terrible. With babies came less time to cook and sadly the last three months after my break I wasn't able to cook either but this past week I've been enjoying being back in the kitchen. I thought it'd be fun every once in a while to share some of the recipes I'm trying, and let's be honest, that's only going to happen on the weekend. How do I find most of my recipes? Google. I have my favorite cookbooks and magazines but usually I have some random ingredients, I Google to see if someone has put them together before, then modifySo next weekend, make these, and let me know if you try them!Greens FrittataThis was an easy Saturday morning breakfast. We added chopped bell peppers, used raw cheddar instead of mozzarella, and I add two drops of Young Living Thyme Vitality and it was so delicious! Frittatas are such a good way to get in vegetables and use up ingredients you have.Blueberry Zucchini BreadThis was a Father's Day breakfast menu item. Joe found a recipe looking for ways to use our blueberries and I took the idea and made it paleo and gluten free :). How fun am I? It was delicious though. I added blueberries of course and used two drops of Young Living Cinnamon Bark Vitality in place of the cinnamon. What are your favorite weekend recipes? I'd love to know if you try these too!
